Story
The William R. Lathers Foundation Fund reflects Dale Lathers’ deep love for Mears and his commitment to community stewardship. After retiring in 1995, Dale returned to Silver Lake, embracing his hometown as the "Center of the Universe." A dedicated advocate for local history, he played a key role in developing the Oceana County Historical Park and the William R. Lathers Transportation Museum in honor of his brother Bill. As a faithful steward of Bill’s Trust, Dale worked closely with the Foundation to establish multiple funds, provide major donations, and support nonprofits and community projects. His legacy of quiet generosity and problem-solving continues through his wife Jan and son Jeff, who uphold his vision by responding to community needs through the Foundation’s grant cycles.
