Story
While Benzie and Oceana Counties are miles apart, they share a hero: Dyanne Mullen. Dyanne secretly bought clothes and school supplies for students in need, first as a teacher and then as principal at Spitler Elementary School. After her passing in 2010, Dyanne's husband, Mark, and friends established Mrs. Mullen's Closet Fund to support Oceana students' success through accessible programming and resources. In 2024, Mrs. Mullen's Closet Fund – Benzie was transferred into the Oceana Foundation to continue supporting children's needs in Benzie, the family’s seasonal home. Each Mrs. Mullen's Closet Fund will shape young lives in both of Dyanne's loved communities.
