Story
David Markiewicz loved music. It was a thread throughout his life that connected him with so many others. When the 2005 Shelby High School graduate passed away, his family created the David P. Markiewicz Fund to honor his love for music and to ensure that Oceana County kids have the opportunity to experience the joy of making music. The annual David P. Markiewicz Golf Scramble, enthusiastically supported by the community, has been at the heart of the fund's growth. Since it was created, this Donor Advised Fund has contributed over $48,000 to Oceana County schools to support music education. It has purchased equipment, uniforms, music, audio-visual equipment, and established a band instrument lending program for kids who can't afford to purchase or rent them, making sure there are no barriers to participation!
