Known for his humor and contagious positive attitude, Private First-Class Brett Witteveen had a magnetic personality and always strove to make others laugh. After graduating from Hart High School as a talented football player, Brett enlisted in the Marines. He was deployed to Iraq, where he proudly served his country with his characteristic valor and bravery. Brett planned to attend college after his service and hoped to become a personal trainer. He was a leader within the community, and his passage was felt by many. His father, Rick Witteveen, established this scholarship to honor Brett and his service. His scholarship award is given to graduating athletes of Hart High School. A positive and cheerful young man, Brett is remembered for his smile and laugh and the joy he brought to those around him.
