The impact of a beloved grandparent can change a child’s life. For David Nobles, Elmo buoyed his grandson’s educational growth and college attendance. David relocated to his grandfather’s native Oceana County after graduating, as he and his late wife Jeannette established roots in New Era in 2002. David established the David A. Nobles & Elmo S. Nobles MTU Scholarship to honor Elmo’s impact on himself, supporting the next generation’s attendance at Michigan Technological University. Their scholarship will support any Oceana student studying science, technology, engineering, or business administration.
