Story
Pentwater resident Gail Sobecki established a Build a Fund with the goal of reaching the funding minimum within a couple years. It's great to see this fund convert over to advised fund and grantmaking can begin in her husband's memory. Richard always believed in helping others and in “giving back”. He was involved in many organizations in the community, but he was especially passionate about Scouting because of the values it instills in young men (pictured with his grandson Logan). Richard and Logan had a very special bond, and at the funeral home Logan went up to the casket, put his hand on Richard’s shoulder and said, “I will become an Eagle Scout and make you proud.” Logan is mildly autistic and Scouts and children with special needs are close to the Sobecki family's hearts. "It is our hope that by establishing The Sobecki Family Memorial Fund we will be able to help other children become competent, productive, caring adults and that Richard’s legacy of “giving back” will continue."
