For graduating seniors of Hart & Pentwater High Schools who have financial need and GPA over 3.0 in memory of Michael W. Malburg Sr.

Story
Created in loving memory by his best friend and wife of 55 years, Gerry, and their 8 children, this scholarship fund will help support the opportunity for higher education to Pentwater and Hart High School graduates. "When the family was young, my dad always had the vision that his kids would have every opportunity possible to go to college. It was repeated often enough by both Mom and Dad that we knew they were serious, and they helped us to understand it was a doorway into the future, and they successfully got us all through!" reflected his son Marv Malburg. Michael was also committed to his community and actively served in various public service roles. He felt strongly about stewardship and took on extra responsibilities in the community to do what he could to give something back - from bus driving to county commissioner. Michael was a leader - in his community, in his business, and most importantly, in his family. "When Dad passed away, we wanted to do something that would keep alive what was important to him. I am not sure which sister or brother had the idea, it might have been Mom, but all of us quickly endorsed it. A scholarship that would provide financial help for kids who appreciate higher education and are willing to make their own commitment and apply some ambition - that seemed right to us. A fitting way to remember his approach to life," explained Marv.
