Scholarships for graduating seniors of Pentwater High School or any Oceana County high school
Story
This scholarship was established in memory of John and Gladys Kirk of Shelby Michigan. She earned her teaching credentials from Oceana County Normal, but yearned to have her bachelor’s degree. She ended up graduating from Western Michigan University just before her own children graduated. Her husband, a mailman and builder by trade, sang and made music whenever possible. Their children (Tom Kirk and Cathy Fox) remember Math and English exercises or trumpet solos and vocal music more often than bedtime stories. The Kirks gave their kids and grandkids a love of music and an appreciation for education. It was a good start. Their legacy continues through this scholarship and is meant to help give students who will make a future of education and/or music a start of their own.
