Turn Around Scholarship Fund - Non-Endowed

I established this fund after seeing firsthand the significant need in the Treasure Valley to support students who have faced difficult life circumstances beyond their control and are working hard to build a better future through education.

The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships to support students in meeting the financial demands of post-secondary education. Scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors from public high schools within the Meridian Joint School District #2 and the Boise Independent School District.

One student who represents the heart of this scholarship is Aly, a graduating senior determined to break the cycle of poverty and abuse in her life. Raised by a single mother struggling with addiction and without a father present, Aly faced challenges far beyond the classroom. She worked two part-time jobs while attending high school full time, often focusing more on keeping the lights on at home than building a résumé.

Despite these obstacles, Aly remained determined to pursue her education. While her grades did not always reflect her effort or potential, her goal was clear—to attend community college and begin working toward an associate degree.

Aly’s story reflects the kind of student this scholarship seeks to support: individuals who, despite significant hardships, demonstrate resilience, determination, and a desire to create a better future for themselves.
