Children's Advocacy Center of Spartanburg General Fund
Summary
Children's Advocacy Center of Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union Counties, Inc. ("CAC")’s mission is to heal & give voice to abused children through assessment, treatment, education, & community partnerships. Since 1995, CAC has provided critical services for children & families who have been affected by sexual & physical abuse & exposure to violence. CAC provides trauma-focused, evidence-based, services that mitigate the adverse impact of abuse & reduce the immediate & long-term costs of child abuse. In 2023, CAC served 973 children & conducted 3,313 therapy sessions. The CAC model pulls together a multidisciplinary child abuse response team to reduce the number of interviews for children & ensure no child falls through the cracks. Rather than children being interviewed in detail by all professionals involved in child abuse investigations, CAC provides a safe place for children to talk with a highly trained clinician about the details of the abuse in the forensic assessment setting.
