Jeffrey Duncan Scholarship Fund

The Jeffrey Duncan Scholarship Award was established in 1999 by his parents. While a Richmond High School student Jeffrey Duncan took accelerated (X) classes in the sciences and mathematics. In his senior year he won the Eastern Indiana Mathematics contest and graduated in the top ten in his class. While he was a student he participated in the symphonic band and earned two varsity letters in swimming. He received congressional nominations to both the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Naval Academies. He accepted the nomination at Air Force, where in addition to all his duties he majored in electrical engineering and mathematics. He graduated with honors and also was a distinguished graduate = magna cum laude. Eight years after his high school graduation he was invited to The Hague, Netherlands to present a scientific paper of which he was the primary author. He was a division head for the Mission Research Corporation. Currently he is Senior Research Engineer at the Institute for Space and Defense Electronics at Vanderbilt University where he is also pursuing a Ph.D. According to his wife: “at 33 Jeff was already known in the international space community.”

 

Awarded to a Richmond High School graduating senior entering a STEM field who demonstrates financial need. Renewable and amount may increase based on student Pell Grant eligibility.
