Rebecca Lanter Memorial Scholarship Fund

Becca Lanter will be remembered for her compassionate heart and fun-loving personality.  A 2007 graduate of Hagerstown High School, Becca was a Lilly Endowment Community Scholar at Indiana University where she was majoring in management with minors in psychology and public health administration.  Tragically, her life was cut short when she died from results of injuries received in a car accident on May 15, 2010.
Becca was known throughout the Hagerstown community as someone who was determined to succeed and someone who valued education.  In September 2010, a scholarship fund was established at the Wayne County Foundation to honor Becca's life and love of learning.  The initial gift came from Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI), who agreed to make available the unused portion of Becca's Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship.  This scholarship benefits Hagerstown graduating seniors who have a strong determination to succeed despite adversity; dedicated to educational achievement; and who demonstrate financial need.
