Julius Morgan and Verona L. Morgan Scholarship
This scholarship honors the inspiring lives and accomplishments of Verona and the late Julius Morgan. After serving 13 years in the US Air Force, Julius obtained a degree in Marketing from Madison College, and a bachelor’s degree in Business and Psychology from Edgewood College. He worked for the State Department of Industry, Labor and Human Relations where he was the first African American programmer analyst. He also held positions at Dane County, Madison Gas and Electric and the Milwaukee Area Technical College/Milwaukee Enterprise Center, as director of entrepreneurial development. Verona Morgan holds a degree in Business and Psychology from Edgewood College. She was the first African-American woman to oversee the Management Employment Office for AT&T formerly Wisconsin Telephone. She served as the first manager of diversity and community relations for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Her mission has been to provide employment opportunities for college students seeking management careers in business, engineering and computer science. Verona is a founding member of Women in Focus, Inc. and currently serving as president, she is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The Morgan family believes that education is the foundation for everything in life and want to advance educational opportunities for all students, but especially for young men and women of color going into the field of computer science. Scholarship recipients will be selected by Women In Focus, Inc.
