River Valley School District Endowment
Purpose
The purpose of the River Valley School District Endowment Fund (RVSDEF) is to provide funding for programs, projects, and experiences that fall outside the normal operating budget of the River Valley School District. Through a competitive grant process, funds from the RVSDEF will be used for the development, implementation, and evaluation of creative, innovative, and progressive educational practices directly related to River Valley School District student learning and outcomes. Examples of priorities that may be eligible for grant funding include, but are not limited to: (a) technology utilization; (b) multi-disciplinary instruction; (c) arts integration; (d) community involvement; (e) global and cultural awareness; (f) environmental studies; (g) local historical studies; (h) STEM initiatives; and (i) student action research projects with a faculty advisor. Again, grants from the RVSDEF would be used to support educational activities and corresponding student learning outcomes that extend the instruction provided in regular classroom settings and are outside or beyond the means of the River Valley School District budget. Grants from the RVSDEF will be awarded annually on a competitive basis. Applicants may include River Valley School District faculty and staff, students with the support of a faculty member, and community members with the involvement of a faculty member. The focus of the application must be on learning related outcomes attained by River Valley School District students enrolled in grades pre-kindergarten through high school. Grant award recipients will be required, as part of the application process, to assess the student outcomes associated with their project and provide a report detailing those outcomes. The RVSDEF will be housed at the Madison Community Foundation. A local Advisory Board will direct distributions from the RVSDEF. The Advisory Board will be made up of nine individuals including one representative each from the greater Arena community, greater Lone Rock community, greater Plain community, and greater Spring Green community, a representative from the River Valley School Board, a representative from the RVSD administrative team, and three representatives from the River Valley Education Association ( one elementary representative, one middle school representative, and one high school representative). It is anticipated that grant applications will be made available in December on an annual basis, that applications will be due in February, and notice of successful grant awards in will be made in March.
