Ben Balgord Memorial Scholarship
Purpose
Ben Balgord was our favorite Father-Husband-Son-Brother-Teammate-Teacher-Friend. He was a graduate of Madison West High School where he was an honors student and played soccer as well as at the University of Wisconsin where he majored in Mechanical Engineering and cheered on the Badgers. He was full of life, bursting with love, warmth, curiosity, and joy. On April 24, 2024, our community lost a true treasure. This scholarship aims to keep his memory alive, supporting future scholars on their journey and will be awarded to a UW-System-bound, Madison West High School graduating senior meeting the following criteria: 1) Scholar athlete who’s demonstrated excellent academic performance, 2) First preference given to soccer players, with importance given to students who are team players, and who lift up those around them. Preference for students who have volunteered in, or are planning to focus their college studies on, an area related to mental health and/or suicide prevention.
