Middleton has extraordinary natural resources, protected as public lands, plus great outdoor recreational activity areas and programs. Fewer federal, state and local funds are available to sustain and improve both these natural resources and recreational areas. The Middleton Area Public Lands Endowment (MAPLE) seeks monies to establish a permanent fund to help support, expand and enhance Middleton’s vision for conservancy lands, forests, parks, recreation, and trails to ensure the Middleton area is able to continue to: Provide recreational areas and programs – promoting health and wellness; protect and nurture conservancies and other green spaces; and offer access to all members of the community to open lands and recreation close to where they live.
