Purpose
The Jack Sherman Scholarship was established by the Marshall High School Class of 1952 in honor of Jack Sherman, Mae Sherman’s son and 1951 Marshall High School graduate. Jack was a teacher and coach who influenced the lives of numerous students throughout his career. He also was scout master of a Boy Scout troop in Marshall and took the troop to England in the summer of 1962 and won a prestigious award for most outstanding troop. In honoring Jack, his friends and family will be able to continue Jack’s life work of investing in the lives of youth. The scholarships are awarded to Marshall area graduating seniors, or Marshall residents 20 years of age or younger who have earned their GED and entering their first year of continued education. Applicants can be pursuing a two- or four- year degree or apprenticeship programs in skilled trades.
