Purpose
The Ken Machata Memorial Scholarship was established by his loving wife, Bobbi Machata. Ken, a retired MHS teacher, loved teaching and helping his students. His favorite subject to teach was Geometry even though he disliked it when he had to take it in high school. Ken retired in June of 1999 after teaching 39-1/2 years. The Ken Machata Memorial Scholarship is awarded to Marshall High School graduating seniors or previous MHS graduates pursuing a career that entails the use of math, with preference given to those pursuing a career as a math teacher. Applicants must be attending a two- or four-year accredited college or university. Applicants pursuing a solely online course of study may not qualify. Scholarship applicants should demonstrate financial need and a minimum 2.5 GPA. Students who receive this scholarship are encouraged to apply for further support in subsequent years.
