Purpose
The K. John Lord Engineering and Science Scholarship was established by K. John Lord with a bequest to the Marshall Community Foundation. Mr. Lord, a 1950 Marshall High School graduate, and former Marshall resident, had an outstanding career in the Aerospace Industries, working on such projects as spy satellites, the Saturn Moon rocket, Persing and Posiedon missiles and writing computer programs to diagnose failures in electronic black boxes. This Scholarship is awarded to Marshall High School graduating seniors, former graduates or previous recipients pursuing the field of Engineering or the Sciences at a two- or four-year institution as a full-time student. Preference may be given to qualifying applicants demonstrating financial need. By establishing this Scholarship, Mr. Lord wished to help others with goals like his own accomplishments.
