Jam for the Cure Fund
Purpose
The Jam for the Cure Fund was established by Theresa Chaney-Huggett to support non-profit organizations which in turn provide direct support to Calhoun County residents diagnosed with cancer. Resources available for distribution can be used by these organizations to help patients with medical expenses needed for cancer treatment and recovery, including such things as travel for treatment, prescriptions and medical equipment purchases. In 2008, late co-founder Ken "Kenny" Huggett and his wife, Theresa, turned a cancer diagnosis into a community mission. As a lifelong musician, Ken wanted to create a fundraising event where no one was excluded. Ken passed away in 2010, and his music legacy carries on in the yearly music fundraiser which the whole family can enjoy. What started as a free, music-themed jam session has grown into a 501(c) 3 non-profit which has raised thousands of dollars to ensure that in Calhoun County, Michigan, neighbors help neighbors fight cancer.
