Purpose
This fund provides support for the creation and maintenance of barrier-free access to recreation environments and opportunities at recreational venues throughout Harrison County, Indiana, including county parks.

Fund Impact

2010 - Purchased accessible park benches
2011 - Poured sidewalks at the YMCA from the parking lot to the pavilion and between soccer fields
2011 - Paved walk/hand crank story poles at Battle of Corydon Park
2012 - Constructed parking and unloading spaces at Pine Pond and the Nature Center, paving access at Rhoads Pool garden and Hayswood Park basketball court; replaced carpeting at Buffalo Trace cabins with laminate/tile floor
2013 - Purchased an accessible playground area at the YMCA; completed the accessible trail at Buffalo Trace Park
2016 - Provided matching funds to build a playground at Corydon Intermediate School
2017 - Enhanced Hayswood Trail and provided a bathroom at Battle Park
2018 - Expanded and renovated Lanesville Elementary playground; provided an accessible garden and landscaping at the Boys & Girls Club facility
2022 - Purchased playground equipment and remodel existing playground at North Harrison Elementary School; supported Harrison County Parks Department in pouring a concrete pad at the Battle of Corydon Memorial Park site where a new Civil War era tent will be placed, serving as an interpretative area at the entrance, making the facility ADA accessible; supported Harrison County Parks Department in constructing and paving access ramps to the bridge on the walking trail at Buffalo Trace Park making the full trail ADA accessible
2023 - Funded the construction of a new fully handicapped accessible shelter house including new accessible walkways to the restroom facilities, playground, and the new accessible parking area at Hayswood Park by Harrison County Parks Department
