Dr. Sidney and Ida Koretzky Storch Fund
Fund Description
Dr. Sidney and Ida Koretzky Storch were happily married for 56 years. They instilled in their seven children their love of learning. Sidney was proud of his military service as a physician with the 96th Evacuation Hospital in Europe during WWII and earned the rank of Major. After WWII, he was a researcher at Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC, and published work on the two-step" test, an early diagnostic test of coronary artery disease. Ida earned her degree in social work from LSU at a time when few women graduated from college. After spending the early years of their marriage in NYC, they moved to Jacksonville, Fla., where Sidney opened a private practice specializing in internal medicine and cardiology. Ida devoted herself to her growing family and volunteered at her children's schools becoming President of the PTA. Sidney loved the ocean, playing the mandolin and tennis; while Ida took pleasure in playing bingo, cards and watching college football, particularly her LSU Tigers. They both enjoyed taking loving care of their growing family and took great pride in all of their children's accomplishments. They gave so much of their time and resources to their Temple, their seven children's many schools, and to health organizations, as the Arthritis Association. The scope of this fund is broad but with special emphases on Jewish philanthropies, educational programs, and health promotion and treatment organizations. "We hope that this fund will help keep their memory alive. "
