Camp Brightside Fund
Fund Description
The Camp Brightside Fund was created by Mark Fetting and Georgie Smith and lovingly named after Camp Brightside, a two-week summer camp for Baltimore City youth in Northeastern PA, which Georgie and Mark founded in 1992. The camp ran for nine years. Each summer the same wonderful group of young people came from some of Baltimore's most under-resourced communities to experience sleep-away camp and its many benefits: fun, friendship, challenges, and a deeper appreciation for the natural world. Since Camp Brightside's final days, Mark and Georgie have continued the fund as a way to invest in causes that make the world a better place. On August 9, 2025, Mark Fetting passed away, surrounded by family on Squam Lake in New Hampshire. His family maintains the fund as a commitment to Mark's belief in a more just, equitable, sustainable, loving world, and his mission to invest in Baltimore and the people who provide the city with its singular soul. Mark loved Baltimore with all his heart; donations in his honor can be made to the Camp Brightside Fund.
