This Fund was created by Dr. Carlessia Hussein, who dedicated her 50 year career to health and public health service with a focus on people of color and communities in poverty. African American and Hispanic young men are an endangered species. Too many live in poverty and face barriers when reaching for opportunities. The middle-school ages are important for building Industry (life skills) and identity (personal values) for youth. This Fund aims to provide grants to nonprofits in Baltimore and Central Maryland that provide summer enrichment, mentorship, recreation, counseling, crisis intervention support, or academic assistance to middle-school aged boys.
