The Andy Nault Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund was established November 21, 1996 as a scholarship fund to make a lasting difference in our community. Endowed The Andy Nault Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Ishpeming High School senior who will be attending a college or university. Applicants should have participated in athletics while attending IHS. It aims to be considered for the scholarship, a 2.500 GPA or better is required. Character and citizenship will be important considerations of the selection committee.

Bernadette Reider Scholarship Fund

The Bernadette Reider Scholarship Fund was established December 21, 2001 as a scholarship fund to make a lasting difference in our community. Colonel Bernadette Reider established the Bernadette Reider Scholarship Fund in 2002. Born in Little Lake and raised in Marquette, Reider began her U.S. Army Nurse Corps career in March 1945 when she answered the military's demand for medical personnel near the end of World War II. She served in the Korean War for four months in the front lines during the heaviest fighting of the war. A generation later, she was again at the front, this time in Viet Nam where she was stationed in the city of Pleiku where the Army's regional medical facility was located. Reider has been awarded numerous medals including the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster. At the time of her retirement, she was the Chief Operating Room Nurse at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Brian Watson Scholarship

The Brian Watson Scholarship was established July 30, 2020 as a scholarship fund to make a lasting difference in our community. The scholarship will be awarded annually to one eligible applicants in the amount of $500.00 provided the total amount of scholarships awarded does not exceed the Fund's distributable amount. As assets grow, the Foundation may elect to increase the grant amount or award additional scholarships. It aims to be eligible, applicants must meet these criteria: - Graduating Senior from Gwinn High School; - Pursuing a degree in one of the STEM fields - preference will be given to those not typically represented in these fields; - Demonstrates a financial need; - No minimum GPA is required, however student must demonstrate good character and work ethic

Excellence in Education Endowment Fund

The income of the Fund will be distributed annually to the Agency for support of the Marquette-Alger Excellence in Education Week as determined by the Foundation in consultation with the Agency. It is our intent that the principal of the Fund remain intact and not be subject to distribution except in extraordinary circumstances. We recognize that all such distributions must be for charitable purposes and consistent with the exempt purposes of the Foundation as specified in its Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws.

Frank and Elizabeth Buytaert Memorial Scholarship

Consistent with the charitable purposes of the Foundation, distributions from this Fund will be used primarily to provide scholarships to Ishpeming High School seniors in accordance with the program guidelines: The scholarship will be awarded annually to one eligible applicant in the amount of up to $1,000.00 provided the total amount of scholarships awarded does not exceed the Fund's distributable amount. The scholarship can be renewed for a total of 2 years. If additional interest is generated, it will be added to the principal of the Fund. Eligibility criteria: This scholarship is to be awarded each year to an Ishpeming High School Senior who has met the following criteria: - Applied and accepted to a 4-year college or university program OR 2-year Skilled Technical School or Associates Program. - Maintained 3.0 or higher GPA during the first 7 semesters at Ishpeming High School. - Demonstrates strong work ethic, good character and good citizenship. - Demonstrates financial need.
