Story of the Fund
Tom Grove was an award-winning artist and photographer known for his quick wit, sharp intelligence, and dedication as a beloved photography teacher for 40 years at Elkhart Central High School. His passion for encouraging students to pursue their interest in the arts is celebrated by a scholarship established by his friends and family and managed by the Community Foundation.

Tom’s impact extended beyond the classroom; he was a two-time Lilly Creative Teacher Fellow, a participant in the Toyota International Teacher Program, and a National Endowment for the Humanities Research participant. His art is on permanent exhibit at the Midwest Museum of Art in Elkhart, Indiana.

The scholarship honors Tom’s legacy by supporting students pursuing fine arts or photography degrees, validating careers in the arts, and inspiring individuals to follow their passion, continuing the impact he made on students in his honor.
