Purpose
The Fred and Kristine Kalis Athletic Scholarship was established in memory of Fred Kalis who was a long-time Thrivent Financial representative in the Bad Axe area. Mr. Kalis was active in the community as a mentor, teacher, youth leader, mayor, and church board member. He was often referred to as simply ‘the coach’ because he coached nearly every high school sport in Bad Axe. This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from Bad Axe High School who participated in sports.
