Fund Spotlight
Community Endowment
The Community Endowment Fund is a collection of permanent, flexible funds that support grants to enrich local communities, making this a flexible way to ensure donations are used where the needs and opportunities are greatest. Donations not designated for a specific fund automatically go into the Community Endowment Fund, supporting grants that improve and enrich the lives of Sanilac County residents. Grants are distributed twice per year - Spring and Fall.
Youth - Kellogg
The Youth – Kellogg Fund supports the work of the Sanilac County Youth Advisory Council (YAC), the “next generation” initiative of the Community Foundation. The fund traces its origins to the W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s Youth Project matching initiative in the 1990s, which helped launch YAC in Sanilac County by encouraging community foundations to engage young people directly in philanthropy. This early investment established a permanent resource dedicated to youth-led grantmaking and positioned students as active partners in building a stronger community. Today, YAC is composed of student leaders representing all seven Sanilac County high schools who are committed to making a difference through grantmaking, volunteerism, and raising awareness around important local issues. The fund continues to empower these young leaders to develop lifelong skills in leadership and service while creating meaningful, lasting impact throughout Sanilac County.
