Sanilac County Backpack Fund

The Sanilac County Backpack Fund was created to ensure that no child in our community goes hungry. Each year, the fund supports weekend food backpack programs throughout Sanilac County, providing students in need with a backpack of food every weekend during the school year, helping bridge the gap when school meals are unavailable. Each backpack, assembled locally by volunteers, costs approximately $100 per student per year. This effort is made possible through the collaboration of area schools, churches, organizations, businesses, and caring individuals working together to nourish local children and strengthen our community. Blue Water Council - Boy Scouts of America

The Blue Water Council Boy Scouts of America Fund was established to promote continuous growth and operation of the Blue Water Boy Scouts.

Cass City Promise

The Cass City Promise Fund was established to inspire and support a community-wide commitment to post secondary education—whether that means college or trade school—for every Cass City High School graduate. Through the Children’s Savings Account (Red Hawk Nest Egg) and the Scholarship (Red Hawk Flight), the Promise provides both encouragement and financial assistance. Gifts to this fund help sustain the program, its mission, and special incentives for students.

The Sanilac County Child Abuse Prevention Council Fund was established to support the vital work of preventing child abuse through ongoing education and community engagement. For more than 32 years, the Council has been dedicated to fostering safe, nurturing environments where children and families can thrive. Through education, enrichment programs, and advocacy for children and their families, this fund helps ensure that every child in Sanilac County has the opportunity to grow up healthy, safe, and supported by a caring community.

Croswell Rotary - Gortun Athletic Scholarship

The Croswell Rotary - Gortun Athletic Scholarship was established by the Croswell Rotary Club, in memory of Ty Gorton, to support students attending “Team Summer Sports Camps”. It is awarded to Croswell-Lexington High School students who maintain a GPA of 2.0 or above.

The Sanilac County Community Foundation has partnered with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to provide FREE books to every child in Sanilac County from birth through age 5. Registered children will receive an age-appropriate book mailed directly to them every month.

The Thumbs Up for Kids Endowment Fund was established to help provide a special “wish” for children in the Thumb who have a terminal or life-threatening illness.

Youth - Kellogg

The Youth – Kellogg Fund supports the work of the Sanilac County Youth Advisory Council (YAC), the “next generation” initiative of the Sanilac County Community Foundation. Composed of student leaders from all seven Sanilac County high schools, YAC members are committed to making a difference in their community through grantmaking, volunteering, and raising awareness around important local issues. This fund empowers these young leaders to develop their skills, give back, and create a lasting positive impact on Sanilac County.
