Purpose
The Joseph B. and Bonnie J. Hoppinthal Scholarship was established to honor the life of Joe Hoppinthal, a hardworking Croswell native who always dreamed of becoming a farmer. By 10th grade, Joe left school to help on the family farm. Even at a young age, his strong work ethic was clear—he walked the streets of Croswell until he found a job as a grease monkey at Bricker and Gill, then returned home each day to continue working on the farm. Joe’s determination carried him from small-town beginnings to a successful career in tool and die, where he eventually owned his own business. After retirement, Joe returned to Croswell to reconnect with the rural life he always cherished. This scholarship supports students pursuing degrees in agriculture-related fields with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
