Claude Johnson Memorial Scholarship
Purpose
Established by Vera Johnson in memory of her husband, Claude Johnson Jr., this scholarship reflects Vera’s commitment to education and perseverance. After leaving school at age 16, she returned to earn her high school diploma alongside her eldest son. She continued her studies at Concord and later earned a master’s degree in education from West Virginia University. Applicants must be graduates of Summers County High School with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
