Camp Fife is entering one of the most exciting chapters in its history. GEORGE BEETCHENOW MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

George Beetchenow was an educator and a coach in the Yakima Valley from 1950 until 1980. He taught advanced math and sciences. He coached football, basketball, and track at Moxee, Eisenhower, and A.C. Davis high schools. While he enjoyed it all, his true passion was for the throwing events, the shot put, the discus, and the javelin. George never threw any of the implements in competition- his understanding of the events, and more importantly his understanding of people, allowed him to guide many young athletes to state championships, state records, and school records. More importantly, he helped young athletes instill pride in their personal growth and accomplishments. To honor his memory, his children started a scholarship in his name. Each year they grant out $500 scholarships to seniors at East Valley, Eisenhower, Davis, West Valley, Selah or LaSalle High School; who have a 2.5 GPA or higher; and who have competed in one of the throwing events for two seasons. To learn how to apply for the scholarship, email info@yakimavalleycf.org.

HARMAN SENIOR CENTER FUND

SUPPORT THE HEART OF SENIOR COMMUNITY – THE HARMAN CENTER Since 2004, the Harman Center has been more than just a building—it's where Yakima's seniors thrive. Every day, this vital hub buzzes with life as neighbors reconnect over line dancing, stay strong through Forever Fitness classes, create beautiful quilts, and share meals together. It's where seniors access affordable lunches, receive health screenings, learn to protect themselves from scams, and navigate Medicare with confidence. It's where loneliness is replaced by laughter, and isolation gives way to friendship. The Harman Foundation's generous gift gave our community this treasure. Now, it's our turn to protect it. Budget constraints threaten the programs that keep our seniors healthy, engaged, and connected. Your donation ensures that the quilting circles continue, the fitness classes keep moving, the educational seminars remain accessible, and beloved traditions like the Strawberry Social and Holiday Bazaar endure. When you give to the Harman Center, you're investing in the dignity, health, and joy of the seniors who built this community. They deserve a place to gather, grow, and belong—and with your help, they'll have it.

HARVEST HOPE FUND

Food insecurity is reaching crisis levels in our region. The recent government shutdown and suspension of SNAP benefits have created a perfect storm of need in Yakima and Kittitas Counties. 70% of these federal benefits support working families—people who labor in our fields and orchards, stock our stores, and care for our neighbors, yet still struggle to put food on their tables. Our agricultural region faces unique challenges that compound food insecurity. While we grow food for the nation, many of our farm workers and their families earn wages that don't stretch far enough, especially when paired with the geographic isolation of rural communities. When federal support disappears, our local food banks become the last line of defense against hunger. The Harvest Hope Fund will provide immediate, flexible resources to food banks serving our communities, helping ensure no family goes hungry while they weather this crisis. These are our neighbors—the families who make our agricultural economy possible. Philanthropic support allows us to respond with the speed and compassion this moment demands, filling the gap until federal assistance is restored while strengthening our community's resilience for the future. Every dollar donated directly supports emergency food assistance for families in Yakima and Kittitas Counties.
