Delton Area Rotary Club Scholarship Fund - DKEF

The Delton Area Rotary Club was founded on the motto of “Service above Self” and developed this scholarship fund to reward students who demonstrate a strong commitment to community service as well as leadership skills. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide 2 non-renewable scholarships to graduating Delton-Kellogg students (1 for a student going to a college/university and 1 for a student going to voc/tech school). Scholarship will be used to reimburse students for books and supplies necessary for post-secondary education. It is the intention of the Delton Kellogg HS Fine Arts Scholarship Fund to award a scholarship to graduating high school senior from Delton Kellogg Schools who is pursuing a degree in the field of Art. Donald and Dorothy Humphreys Memorial Scholarship Fund - DKEF

Don was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His far reaching skill set led him to several different careers. He was a technical writer, and worked in advertising in the 60’s. Ultimately he was a photographer and was referred to as “Digital Don” due to his cutting edge work in mobile video production. He was a frequent traveler, visiting countries all around the world, often in conjunction with his role in the Rotary Club, a group which he became President, District Governor and the founder of the Delton Rotary. He applied the four way test to his life: First, is it the truth? Second, is it fair to all concerned? Third, will it build goodwill and better friendships? Fourth, will it be beneficial to all concerned? The recipient will be a young person that can demonstrate a time, experience of decision that, even though not known, required the application of the test. Eligibility Requirements: - Student must be a graduating senior of Delton Kellogg High School - Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. - Must be accepted at an accredited post-secondary school. - Student must be involved in fine arts or visual arts/communication. - Student must demonstrate strong ties to the Delton community. - Student must provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher. - Student will be evaluated on essay content that demonstrates the use of the Rotary four-way test.

Work habits, attendance and level of effort will also be considered in awarding this scholarship for on-going advanced learning. Kate Kwasny Memorial Teacher Scholarship Fund - DKEF

The Kate Kwasny Memorial Scholarship Foundation is dedicated to providing scholarships for Delton-Kellogg high school seniors who are pursuing a career in education. Kate was a graduate of Delton Kellogg Schools and Western Michigan University. She was a business teacher at Comstock High School when her life was tragically ended in a car accident at age 23. Kate truly believed that “Education Changes Lives”. Each year, her legacy is honored with the awarding of a 4-year renewable scholarship of $1,000 for students who continue to pursue a degree in education, are in good academic standing and are following in the path Kate carved for herself. Eligibility Criteria: - Student must be a graduating senior of Delton-Kellogg High School. - Student must be accepted to an accredited college or university. - Student must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. - Student must be planning to pursue a teaching degree. - Student must demonstrate community involvement through non-academic school activities, volunteer work, or work experience. - Student will be evaluated on an ADDITIONAL essay related to the reason why he/she wants to become teacher.
