Batesville Catholic School Educators Fund

The St. Louis Catholic School Educators Fund has been established by friends of St. Louis Catholic School to empower educators and ensure quality private educational opportunities flourish within Ripley County. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burdens placed on local parishes by schools. Our teachers and staff are the heart of our schools. It requires a truly special individual to dedicate their career to a parochial school, answering a calling that often demands significant personal sacrifice. These devoted professionals pour their energy into crafting lessons that build a strong academic foundation while nurturing a deep moral compass rooted in Catholic teachings. They are shaping the minds and hearts of our next generation, yet their invaluable work is often undervalued, as they receive some of the lowest wages in southeast Indiana. It is our hope that the establishment of this fund will inspire alumnae, parishioners, and grandparents to make a gift or leave a bequest, investing in a brighter future for our community. Together, we will sustain and enhance the educational opportunities available in Ripley County, setting an enviable standard for other communities. The Advisory Board shall recommend grants to be paid to St. Louis Catholic School by giving preference to 1) teacher salaries, 2) comprehensive teacher benefits, 3) stipends and bonuses to teaching and non-teaching staff who lead officially recognized clubs and extracurricular activities, 4) classroom grants to directly support teacher led initiatives and resources, and 5) scholarships for teachers pursuing professional development and advanced degrees that directly benefit the school.

Roy and Hilda Black created this fund in honor of the many years of friendships of their many acquaintances in the Town of Osgood and surrounding community. Their lives were enriched by those friendships and they enjoyed living in the Osgood community. This trust fund is their contribution to the improvement in the quality and enjoyment of life for the citizens of the Town of Osgood and its surrounding community. It was Roy and Hilda's hope and wish that the people of the Osgood community would gain some benefit and enjoyment from this gift and that their lives would be made a little better because of it. Additionally, they hoped that the establishment of this fund would be a 'legacy of giving', which would inspire others in the Osgood community to leave something for the benefit of those who will follow.
