Schofield Family Scholarship Fund
Support Future Scientists, Engineers & Innovators: Donate to the Schofield Family Scholarship Fund
The Schofield Family Scholarship Fund helps local students take the next step toward a career in science, technology, engineering, or math. The scholarship supports graduates of Napa Valley Unified School District public high schools and Justin-Siena High School who have shown both the potential and the drive to pursue STEM studies at a two- or four-year college or university — and who need financial support to get there.
The Fund reflects the shared legacy of Jennifer and George Schofield, who made Napa Valley their home for nearly fifty years. Jennifer, a mathematician with a Ph.D. from Cambridge, worked on a NASA research contract for the Apollo program before spending years tutoring local students in math, teaching in St. Helena schools, and serving on the St. Helena School Board; George spent four decades in the California wine industry, including as Vice President of Finance at Robert Mondavi Winery. Married for 61 years, they raised three children here and shared a conviction that a good education — and a love of math and science in particular — can change the course of a young person's life.
Why Your Support Matters
STEM degrees open doors to some of the most rewarding and in-demand careers available today. But tuition, lab fees, and the cost of equipment put those paths out of reach for many talented students in our Valley. With your generosity, we can:
- Provide scholarship funding to students pursuing STEM studies at two- and four-year colleges and universities
- Support graduates of Napa Valley Unified School District public high schools and Justin-Siena High School
- Ensure that economic need doesn't stand between a student and a career in science, technology, engineering, or math
- Encourage local students to build the skills our community and our economy will depend on
Your Gift Can
- Help cover essential textbooks, lab fees, and supplies
- Assist with tuition and course fees
- Provide a student with the technology and tools their coursework requires
- Bring a hardworking student closer to a degree and a future in STEM
