Purpose
The Moore Institute for Plastic Pollution Research is a nonprofit scientific organization dedicated to advancing the understanding and mitigation of plastic pollution in the environment. Founded on the legacy of Captain Charles Moore, who discovered the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, the Institute conducts cutting-edge research to develop reliable methods for detecting, identifying, and analyzing plastic pollution in water, soil, and biological samples. Our mission is to generate trusted, actionable science that empowers communities, policymakers, and other researchers to reduce plastic pollution at its source. As one of the few accredited laboratories focused solely on plastic pollution, we provide affordable, high-quality sample processing services and share findings to support global efforts toward cleaner ecosystems. Your support helps us train the next generation of scientists, expand our research capacity, and keep our data accessible to those who need it most. Join us in turning science into impact.
