The Onaga Elementary playground has one major problem: there is no shade. No trees, no shade structures, and no awnings mean that students and staff have little relief from the Kansas sun during recess and outdoor activities. We are seeking $7,463 to purchase an 18' x 20' shade structure that will provide a much-needed shaded area on the playground and allow students to spend more comfortable time outside. Community volunteers and USD 322 staff will provide the installation, ensuring that the donated funds go directly toward the structure. With the construction of our new elementary school underway, this is an ideal time to make improvements to our outdoor space. A donation toward this project will make an immediate, visible difference for our students—and give them a place to get out of the sun while still enjoying the playground.
