Strengthen Our Community: Support Your Community Foundation

Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation transitioned from a private foundation to a community foundation July 1, 2023. Like many community foundations, PAHWF takes a leadership role in the communities we serve, identifying emerging needs, collaborating across the community, and advocating for positive change.

Diana Smith Memorial Endowment

In memory of Diana Smith – Devoted Wife & Mother, Beloved Nurse, and Faithful Community Servant. Diana, a devoted school nurse in the Boyertown Area School District for 20 years, was deeply passionate about the health and well-being of her friends, family, and community. In addition to her nursing career, she served as a Girl Scout leader, Sunday School and Youth Leader, and volunteered with the “Josh’s Angels” Relay for Life team. Her faith was a guiding force, leading her on mission trips worldwide and inspiring her involvement with local ministries. Diana’s greatest commitment was to her students and youth in Boyertown, where her caring nature made a lasting impact. In honor of her legacy, Diana Smith’s family has established a student loan debt relief program for nurses and behavioral health workers in the Boyertown/Tri-County area. This fund is designed to help attract and retain nurses and/or behavioral health workers in schools and/or nonprofit behavioral health organizations at a time when the U.S. and our local community are facing a national behavioral health crisis and healthcare shortage. Often students graduate with crippling debt, and with less debt, people can focus on their jobs and the people they serve. The award will repay a portion of an eligible professional’s student loan debt. In return, the expectation is that the recipients commit to working in the Boyertown/Tri County Area for a minimum of two years.
